ABOUT THIS MAP: This experimental map is generated from news reports from both expert-curated and general news sources. Content is screened by dbacl, a digramic bayesian classifier, and then passed on to the OpenCalais web service for named entity annotation. The display is rendered using Google Maps and SIMILE Exhibit. EpiSPIDER is a project that demonstrates connectivity between "consumers", "producers" and "transformers" of data within an emerging information and knowledge architecture through data and service-based end points of novel and existing Internet-based applications. The left and right panels provide facet-based browsing parameters which users can select to limit the markers displayed on the map panel.
